Redfoo of LMFAO and his partner Jazzy are enjoying their lives in the new series Party Rock Farmhouse, which showcases their passion for animals, vegan cooking, and promoting a plant-based lifestyle.
While it may not be what one anticipates from a Grammy-nominated musician, Redfoo, whose real name is Stefan Kendal Gordy, has embraced a rural lifestyle. As part of the electronic dance duo LMFAO, known for the 2011 hit “Party Rock Anthem,” Redfoo has shifted from his music career to life on a farm in Calabasas, where he resides with Jazzy, their daughter Ily, and an array of rescued animals including cows, pigs, and turkeys.
In their show, Party Rock Farmhouse, Redfoo shares his transformation from a party-centric lifestyle to embracing his role as a plant parent, encouraging viewers to discover how a vegan diet can positively impact their lives.
Planting the Seed
Redfoo’s journey to veganism was a transformative process. His health took a hit during a routine physical when doctors discovered alarming cholesterol levels, prompting a reevaluation of his diet. Reflecting on that moment, he notes, “I appeared healthy, yet I was stunned to find out my cholesterol was over 600. This was a wake-up call; I realized prioritizing health was crucial.”
Transitioning to a vegan lifestyle has yielded significant health benefits, as studies indicate plant-based diets can lower the risk of conditions like type 2 diabetes and prostate cancer.
Jazzy played a vital role in Redfoo’s health journey. “As my road manager, we often sought healthy food options together,” Redfoo shares. “We began scrutinizing ingredient labels and eliminated those we couldn’t understand.”
As a musician, Redfoo recognizes how powerful music can evoke emotions, and he experienced a similar epiphany about food—a realization that the right nutrition can enhance well-being. As he puts it, “to feel healthy equates to the highest sense of well-being.”
The Gateway Dog
Embracing a plant-focused lifestyle led Redfoo and Jazzy to relocate from Los Angeles to a larger homestead due to housing limitations with their Saint Bernard, affectionately dubbed the “gateway dog” by Jazzy.
Their residence is now home to numerous rescue animals, including dogs, pigs, turkeys, and cows. Engaging with these animals has strengthened their commitment to veganism. “We aimed to adopt a more natural lifestyle,” he explains. “Living vegan means being mindful about what you consume, which affects your well-being and your interactions with others. It’s about extending love to everyone—animals, the environment, and oneself.”
Let’s Get Cooking
For many, the shift to a plant-based diet can be daunting, but Jazzy’s enthusiasm for cooking ensures meals remain exciting. From vegan lasagna to sprouted sushi wraps, they constantly explore innovative vegan recipes. “My friends often joke they would switch to veganism if I cooked for them daily,” Jazzy laughs.
The motivation behind Party Rock Farmhouse is to demonstrate the versatility of vegan cuisine. Jazzy remarks, “I want to show that a vegan diet goes beyond the usual stir fry or veggie curry. Creative cooking can make even fruit resemble salmon—yes, it’s watermelon!”
The couple views their dietary choices as part of a broader lifestyle that prompts reflection on societal consumption. Redfoo challenges norms by questioning, “Why add so much sugar to our lemonade? Why not use dates instead? We need to consider whether manufacturers genuinely care about our health.”
By fostering such inquiries, they create a nurturing environment for their daughter and community, promoting exploration and personal autonomy in health and wellness.
The Power of Plants
In addition to Party Rock Farmhouse, Redfoo aims to empower others to improve their lives through his free app Doctor Only Plants, providing tips, recipes, and promoting The Sprouting Company’s at-home sprouting kit.
While acquiring a farm may not be feasible for everyone, the couple wishes to emphasize that there are many practical and approachable plant-based changes individuals can make to enhance their health.
“Anyone can grow sprouts at home,” Redfoo asserts. “They don’t even require sunlight. The nutritional benefits of sprouts are astounding. Herbs like mint and garlic can be cultivated easily, even on a small balcony. Our goal is to demonstrate how simple it is, while also highlighting the cost savings.”
The couple believes that the empowerment gained from learning new recipes or growing herbs can positively influence other aspects of life as well, such as relationships and careers. Cultivating awareness of the mind-body connection lays a foundation for improved overall wellness.
The Main Dish
Community often revolves around food, and Redfoo and Jazzy demonstrate that meatless menus can still create enriching experiences. They enjoy hosting gatherings where friends and family are often impressed by the diverse range of vegan dishes offered, including creative options like vegan cheese boards.
“Our priority is to ensure our daughter and our loved ones are healthy,” Redfoo shares. “We relish in sharing our discoveries and knowledge with others. We strive to create new dishes daily and share those experiences.”
Party Rock Farmhouse illustrates that plant-based living can be vibrant, fun, and immensely fulfilling. By engaging in veganism, Redfoo and Jazzy feel they are contributing positively to their health and their daughter’s future.
Through their show and community interactions, they aspire to inspire open dialogues about health and wellness. Redfoo adds, “We aspire to live our healthiest, most loving lives and to project that positivity into every aspect of our existence.”
