Spiced Apple Crumble
Servings: 6-8
Filling Ingredients:
6 medium Honeycrisp apples, peeled and diced
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
Juice of 2 lemons
Topping Ingredients:
1 cup quick oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/8 teaspoon salt
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Begin by preheating your oven to 350°F.
For the filling, combine the apples, flour, sugar, cinnamon, cloves, and lemon juice in a medium bowl. Mix well to ensure the apples are evenly coated, then transfer the mixture into a greased 8-by-8-inch baking dish.
Next, prepare the topping by mixing the oats, flour, both sugars, baking powder, cinnamon, melted butter, and salt in another medium bowl. Use a fork to create a crumbly texture. Sprinkle this topping evenly over the apple mixture.
Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Enjoy it warm, optionally paired with vanilla ice cream.
